- The vaccine is a great advancement in our battle against Lyme disease.
CONS
- The vaccine won't protect you against other tick borne diseases Babesiosis or Ehrlichiosis (both
extremely prevalent on eastern Long Island.
- The vaccine was not studied for safety in
patients who have been exposed to Lyme (the most modern test for Lyme
diease is only 50% accurate, you may have been exposed to Lyme and not
know it yet).
- The vaccine is not for children under the age
of 15.
- The vaccine does not protect against all
strains of Lyme disease.
- The vaccine has not been tested for long term
effects on patients with certain chronic diseases, (arthritis, for
example).
- The vaccine will not stop ticks from feeding on
people.
- The vaccine is not 100% effective.
